Equipment

No equipment is needed to start- we are happy to lend swords. If you decide to continue classes with Lynx, you will need to purchase safety gear and weapons. Loose, comfortable clothing and flexible, light soled shoes are recommended.

Swords

The most popular and affordable beginner's longsword is the Hanwei Practical Hand and a Half, which is available from Dragon Impact in Victoria and Warriors and Wonders in Vancouver. Cost should be less than $150. Hanwei makes more expensive but nicer practice swords in the Tinker line. These are quite popular in the group. We like to add Darkwood Armory rubber tips to all weapons.

Daggers

Practice daggers can be re-shaped coffee table legs, or wooden rondel daggers from sources like Purple Heart Armoury.
If you prefer a metal dagger trainer, the rondel dagger sold by Darkwood Armory is a good choice.

Safety Equipment

A three-weapons fencing mask and a pair of leather gloves is the minimum needed. A better mask is made by That Guy's Products. An excellent WMA helmet is made by Windrose Armouries.

Full medieval armour, as shown on the home page, is for the very enthusiastic:)
